Seek First

Good Friday Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“Seek First”

Matthew 6:25-33 New King James Version (NKJV)

25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Further Thought: As we enter this New Year, I want to encourage you to join me as Jesus reminds us in today’s passage to “Seek First” His Kingdom and His Righteousness. Just like you, I want to be under the government influence of heaven on earth. This is where we know it’s God’s responsibility to provide all we need. And where we seek to remain in right standing/positioning under His authority. Now, as you dig into God’s Word during your private time, keep in mind what these two words require of us.

Seek: Pursue, Study, Explore, Understand, Learn, Consider, Desire to know, A Passion for, and Diligent dedication. To preoccupy yourself with something (what does the Kingdom say about it?)

First: Priority, Principle, Before all others, Most important, Highest value on, Above everything, and Establish as primary.

So, let’s recognize that whatever concerns we have in life are not ours to carry or concern ourselves with.  No, it belongs to the King, who is responsible for us.  Let’s be clear: this doesn’t mean you don’t have to work or manage your time.  As you continue performing at your best in whatever you are doing that brings glory to God, the King, by the power of His Spirit that lives in you, will ensure you are positioned to receive all you need.  Now, your part is to stay in love [remember faith works by love] and remain sensitive to His leading.  Remember, He’s made it simple; if it’s in His Word, it’s for you, according to 2 Peter 1:3-4.Have a great day and keep chewing on God’s Word.

Have a great day and keep chewing on God’s Word.
