Good Morning. Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:
“A Little Child”
Matthew 18:1-3 New International Version (NIV)
1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Further Thought: Let’s be clear: Verse three above does not say if you don’t become like a little child, you can’t be saved [become a Christian, a child of God]. No, verse three reminds us that to experience [take advantage of] the kingdom of heaven, we must develop the qualities of a little child once again. Children are quick to believe. They never considered whether my mom or dad could do what they promised. No, the only thing they do is what God asks His children to do: put him in remembrance of what he said. And if you have children, you know they are highly developed in this area.
Just like a good parent expects their child to hear and obey them, so it is also with our heavenly father. Our heavenly father expects us to believe what he said, receive it, and rest (trust, have confidence) that it’s done. Just like a child depends on his parents to provide all his needs, now that we are in the Kingdom, God wants his children to depend on him to meet all their needs. When we are both willing and obedient, God is obligated to supply us with the best his kingdom has to offer.
Let’s remember Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that without faith (trust, belief, confidence in what God has said), it is impossible to please Him.
Have a great day and keep chewing on God’s Word.
