connecting with God and you!

“Fight the Good Fight

Good Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“Fight the Good Fight”

1 Timothy 6:11-12 New King James Version (NKJV)

11 But you, O man of God, flee these things [the lust of things seeking to draw you away from following after God] and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.

12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Further Thought:  Recognize God calls the fight we should be participating in a good fight.  No, he’s not talking about a physical fight.  And no, it’s not a fight with you arguing to get the last word in.  But why would he call it a good fight?  Because it’s fixed in your favor.  Remember, in 2 Corinthians 2:14, God said that he always causes us to triumph.  He also said in 2 Peter 1:3-4 (KJV), “3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:  4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”.

So, according to today’s passage, we set victory into motion when we hold fast to the faith-filled words of God we have confessed with our mouths and believed in our hearts.  Now, I want you to rest knowing that according to 2 Peter 1:3-4 above, God has made available everything we will ever need to live in continual victory.  Our part is to know what’s been made available and laying hold of it.  I’ll say it again: It’s a “Good Fight,” and we always win by following God’s way of doing things.

Have a great day and keep chewing on God’s Word.
