Remind Yourself

Good Monday Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“Remind Yourself”

1 Thessalonians 5:23 New King James Version(NKJV)

23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify [set you apart] you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalm 103:1-5 New King James Version (NKJV)

1 Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:  3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,

4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Further Thought: 1 Thessalonians 5:23 reminds us that we are first a spirit, we have a soul [mind, will, and emotions], and we live in a physical body. Our spirit man is just like Jesus, perfect. However, our soul [mind, will, emotions] and our physical bodies are far from perfect, and they need to be reminded and reminded of who’s with them and how they are to function on the earth.

David, in Psalm 103, understood this. So, he told both his soul [mind, will & emotions] and his body what to do: to bless the Lord. Our soul blesses the Lord by ensuring our thoughts and actions agree with God’s Word. And our physical bodies bless the Lord by functioning in the perfection which God created them to function. Paul describes this process in Romans 12:2 as the renewing of our minds. Remember, our spirit man will always agree with God by blessing the Lord. However, our soul and physical body won’t. So, we must continue renewing our minds daily to the things of God. The Good News is that once we get our soul [mind, will, and emotions] to agree with our spirit, the body will follow. So, remind your self you are not just a man or a woman.  No you are a three part being.  You are first a spirit, created in the image and likeness of the Almighty God.  You have a soul [mind, will and emotions] and you live in a physical body.

Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
