Grow Your Faith

Good Friday Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“Grow Your Faith”

2 Thessalonians 1:3 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

3 We ought and indeed are obligated [as those in debt] to give thanks always to God for you, brethren, as is fitting, because your faith is growing exceedingly and the love of every one of you each toward the others is increasing and abounds.

Romans 4:20 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

20 yet, with respect to the promise of God, he [Abraham] did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God,

Further Thought:  Your faith is like a muscle; it must be developed. In our two passages above, we see the following:  #1, our faith can and should grow.  #2 Abraham, our father of faith, serves as our example that it’s possible for us not to waiver at the promises of God [what God has said] but to continue growing strong in our faith. Let’s remember Abram was 75 years old when God initially told him in Genesis 12:2 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others]”.  However, it wasn’t until 24 years later, when God changed his name to Abraham, whose name means [father of nations], that God could manifest his goodness in his life. We discover here that God had to change what Abraham was hearing about himself. Romans 10:17 reminds us that faith in God comes by hearing and hearing what God has said.  Once Abram’s name was changed to Abraham, he kept hearing, father of nations, numerous times daily from those in his family and those who worked for him. And this is what we should also do to develop our trust and confidence in our God.  Proverbs 4:20-22 reminds us to keep God’s Word before our eyes, in our mouths, and in our hearts.  Now that you’ve determined to please God, you will be given numerous opportunities throughout your day to grow your faith.

Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
