His Gifts

Good Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“His Gifts”

1 Corinthians 12:1, 4-11 New King James Version (NKJV)

1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: 4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:

8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

11 But one and the same [Holy] Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

Further Thought:  In verses 8-10 above are the nine spiritual gifts given to the body of Christ, which function as the Holy Spirit wills, according to verse 11 above.  No, we don’t operate in them 24/7 or control when they are in manifestation.  Up until about three weeks ago, I used to ask God to allow all of his gifts to be in operation during our Sunday morning church service.  I don’t think there was anything wrong with that request.  But recently, I discovered a more appropriate way to ask.  I now ask the Holy Spirit, who controls the gifts, to give us the gifts we need at that moment.  So, as you start your day, let me encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit to manifest the gifts needed in your life and in your local church.  And just as important let Him know you are available to be used in any of the nine gifts.

Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
