Don’t Take It

Good Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“Don’t Take It”

Matthew 6:25-33 Modern English Version (MEV)

25 “Therefore, I say to you, take no thought about your life, what you will eat, or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they do not sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns. Yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they? 27 Who among you by taking thought can add a cubit[a] to his stature?

28Why take thought about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: They neither work, nor do they spin. 29 Yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. 30 Therefore, if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is here and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31 Therefore, take no thought, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 (For the Gentiles seek after all these things.) For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you.

Further Thought:  Today’s passage does not say we are to ignore whatever we may be facing.  But as citizens of the Kingdom, Jesus, in today’s passage, reminds us that we are commanded not to dwell upon lack of any sort.  No, we can’t control the thoughts from coming, but we do possess the power to cast them down. And we do this according to 2 Corinthians 10:5 by not accepting any thoughts or suggestions that don’t agree with the solutions contained in the Word of God.  So, instead of taking the thought by saying what is that we don’t want in our lives, let’s flip it around and take God’s thoughts, his way of doing things, and receiving his results.  Yes, we tell ourselves what thoughts to think, and through our confession [saying], we continue to renew our minds to the truth of God’s Word.

Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
