2 Opposing Forces

Good Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“2 Opposing Forces”

Galatians 5:16-17, 19-21 New Living Translation (NLT)

16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.  19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Further Thought:  Now, you don’t have to believe a word of the Bible to know that the 2 forces described above are always at work in your life.  Today’s takeaway is to recognize these 2 forces, and when we choose to go against what the Spirit of God and the Word of God say, we shut off access to our inheritance.  Remember, our faith [trust, confidence in God] can only operate in love, according to Galatians 5:6.  When we choose to follow our sinful nature, we are not operating in love, so our access into God’s grace [all that He has made available] is temporarily suspended.  Now, the Good News is we can regain access into God’s grace simply by acknowledging our sins and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us, no matter the cost.

Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
