“Depend On It”

8 The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.

Further Thought:  Today’s passage reminds us that the things we see and depend upon the most are temporary.  Our children will grow up and leave home.  Loved ones will complete their assignments and return to be with the Lord.  Relationships with friends will change.  Career assignments change.  The seasons will change.  Some of these changes are tough to handle, but remember, you are built to withstand any storm.  How can I say this?  You are created in the image and likeness of God, according to Genesis 1:26-28, and Jesus spoke to storms.  And we’ve been given this same authority according to Isaiah 54:17 and Mark 11: 22-23. 

Remember, you have built your life upon the foundation of God’s Word.  You continue to allow the light of His Word to illuminate the path you should take.  You don’t attempt to defend yourself, but you allow the Word to serve as your shield and defense.  You are fully persuaded that His Word will never fail you, and you depend on it.
