Good Monday Morning. Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:
“Don’t Deceive Yourself”
James 1:22-25 King James Version (KJV)
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;
24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty [God’s Word] and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

Further Thought: No one wants to deceive themselves. But today’s passage reminds us when we don’t act upon God’s Word, we deceive ourselves. Another way to say it is you are confusing yourself. You discover the answer God has provided but fail to take the appropriate corresponding action. Verses 23-24 give us the example of looking into the mirror of God’s Word and discovering what we should do and can have but walking away, forgetting what’s been made available. But you and I want to be doers of what God has said. Verse 25 above reminds us when we do, God’s blessing will follow. Today’s passage also reminds us that action is a part of our faith equation. So, as we hear God’s Word, it now becomes our responsibility to implement it in our lives. Let’s recognize the blessings of God don’t follow the hearing of God’s Word but the doing of God’s Word. Putting into practice what we now know. Amen!
Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
