connecting with God and you!

Both are Easy

Good Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“Both are Easy”

Mark 2:3-12 New King James Version (NKJV)

6 And some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, 7 “Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” 8 But immediately, when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, He said to them, “Why do you reason about these things in your hearts?

9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise, take up your bed and walk’? 10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the paralytic, 11 “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”

12 Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!”

Further Thought:  There is a lot in today’s passage, but I want to focus on verses 9-12.  Jesus explained to the scribes that it’s no harder to receive forgiveness of sin than to receive healing.  We have no issue with receiving forgiveness of sin because we have heard it to the degree we have become fully persuaded; we have renewed our minds not to doubt it, even though we have no evidence anything has happened.  The problem with healing is we haven’t heard much teaching on it, and as a result, we don’t have confidence that God will heal us.  Romans 10:17 reminds us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing what God has said about our healing or anything else we may be facing.  Yes, everything in the Kingdom of God is received one way: by faith.  Faith is our absolute confidence in God that He will do what His Word says in our lives.  Let’s remember what Jesus said in today’s passage:  It’s just as easy to be forgiven as it is to be healed.  Jesus said they both are easy.

Have a great day and keep chewing on God’s Word.
