Good Monday Morning. Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:
“He Has the Answer”
John 2:1-11 New King James Version (NKJV)
1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” 6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece.
7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. 9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom.
10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”
11 This beginning of signs (miracles) Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

Further Thought: If you were the organizer for today’s wedding and discovered you miscalculated the wine requirement, how would you handle it? Would you have used your funds to purchase more or gotten with a few guests to buy more wine? Both recommendations would have been logical. However, today’s passage reveals that God has ways to solve problems we would never have thought of. The Good News is that in today’s passage, Mary, Jesus, and the servants show us how we can tap into this same miracle-working power.
Let’s understand that before the wedding in today’s passage, Jesus had not performed any miracles. It all started with Mary first hearing from God, and that is when Jesus received instructions from God the Father on how to handle the wine shortage [John 5:19 & 30]. Let’s also recognize that the process didn’t end with Mary and Jesus hearing from God. It also took the trust and obedience of the servants to carry out the instructions given by Jesus.
Let’s review what happened in the manifestation of the first miracle of Jesus:
1. Mary gave the servants clear instructions: Whatever he says to you do it.
– Notice that the servants didn’t question Mary’s instructions.
2. Jesus also gave the servants clear instructions: Fill the six water pots with water. Next, take a portion to the master of the feast.
– Notice the servants didn’t question the instructions of Jesus.
– Notice the servants didn’t take credit for the miracle wine.
3. The servants trusted and obeyed the instructions of Jesus, which set the power of God in motion, which produced the miracle wine.
Today, you can tap into this same miracle-working power by trusting and obeying God’s word concerning whatever you are facing. Whatever he says to you, do. And we discover this from His word and what He’s spoken unto us by His Spirit, which will always agree with His word. Answers are waiting your trust and obedience.
Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
