Good Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“My House”

Matthew 21:12-14 The Message (The Message (MSG))

12-14 Jesus went straight to the Temple and threw out everyone who had set up shop, buying and selling. He kicked over the tables of loan sharks and the stalls of dove merchants. He quoted this text: [Isaiah 56:7] “My house was designated a house of prayer”; You have made it a hangout for thieves. Now there was room for the blind and crippled to get in. They came to Jesus and he healed them.

Further Thought:  Today’s passage gives us insight into why Jesus was upset.  The leaders had allowed the primary purpose of the temple to become something it wasn’t supposed to be.  Did you notice that after kicking out the thieves, as Jesus called them, He went back to showing them the purpose of His House?  He said My house shall be identified as a house of prayer.  A place of restoration [to return man to his original, normal/unimpaired condition].  The lost should find answers when they enter the doors of the church.

Let’s face it; we all have areas in our lives that require restoration.  Today’s passage also reminds us that when we change the purpose/focus of the church, it’s possible to remove God from all we are attempting to accomplish.  So today, think about your local church.  Is the focus truly on restoring lives?
