Good Monday Morning. Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:
“What Will You Say”
Mark 11:11-14 New King James Version (NKJV)
11 And Jesus went into Jerusalem and into the temple. So when He had looked around at all things, as the hour was already late, He went out to Bethany with the twelve. 12 Now the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry. 13 And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14 In response Jesus said to it, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.” And His disciples heard it.
Mark 11:20-23 King James Version (KJV)
20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain [problem, situation or circumstance], Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Further Thought: Here we find Jesus telling his disciples they could exercise the same authority he used to curse the fig tree [Mark 11:11-14]. Some may ask why Jesus cursed the fig tree. As the creator of the fig tree, he knew if it had leaves, it should have had figs, but it didn’t. So, it wasn’t functioning as it was created to function. Yes, you and I can and should use this same authority when we have something in our lives that’s not functioning as it was created to function [heart, blood, lungs, colon, kidney…].
Today’s passage reminds me that I can continue to say what I have, or I can have what I say. For example, if the report says that you have a bad heart, and you continue to say that, then there is no possibility for change. However, according to Jesus, you can choose to speak to your heart and command it to line up and function in the perfection it was created to function, and if you don’t doubt, it has to obey you. I don’t know about you, but I’m no longer going to give life to anything that goes contrary to what God’s Word has said. No, I’m not denying the existence of problems in my life. Remember, the God kind of faith doesn’t deny the problem, but it denies its authority to remain. But according to today’s passage, I must speak and use my authority against whatever I’m facing, and Jesus said I shall have it if I doubt not. Now, the choice is yours. Will you continue to say what you have and not experience any change, or have you decided to have what we say and experience the benefits that are yours according to God’s Word? Jesus has given you the authority, so why not use it?
Have a day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
