2 Choices

Good Friday Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“2 Choices”

John 4:46-53 New King James Version (NKJV)

46 So Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee where He had made the water wine.  And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.  47 When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.  48 Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.”

49 The nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies!” 50 Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the Word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.  51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, “Your son lives!”

52 Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better.  And they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” 53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” And he himself believed, and his whole household.

Further Thought:  In today’s passage, the nobleman believed the Word [John 1:1 reminds us that Jesus is the Word].  Now, we not only have the written Word available, but we also have the living Word, the Holy Spirit, our helper, living and abiding inside us.

So whatever we need to live the abundant life we have been called to live, according to John 10:10b, is available now, according to 2 Peter 1:3-4.  Today, we are encouraged to follow the example of the nobleman who: 1. Acted in faith, not being distracted by those present who wouldn’t believe without first seeing.  2. Believed and followed the instructions of Jesus.

Remember, God’s Word is the only proof we need.  So once the truth of His Word is revealed, then it is decision time.  To believe what He said or not to believe.  These are the only two choices.  And remember, Hebrews 11:6 says, “without faith [being fully persuaded in what God has said], it’s impossible to please Him.”

Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
