He Tried But Couldn’t

Good Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“He Tried But Couldn’t”

Mark 6:1-6 New King James Version (NKJV)

1Then He [Jesus] went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. 2 And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! 3 Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him.

4 But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” 5 Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.

Further Thought:  Today’s passage reminds us that we can try to help some, but they may not receive it. Unfortunately, they don’t understand just how much God wants to give them an answer. Just as today’s passage illustrates, they may be looking for the answer to come from another source. Think about it, if the people wouldn’t receive help from Jesus, think it not strange when they won’t receive from you. So don’t take it personally when that family member or close friend doesn’t receive the help you can provide.

Now I know it may be difficult, but stay in love and remember 1 Corinthians 3:6, which says, “one plants, another waters, but it’s God that causes the seed to grow.” Yes, God already has someone else lined up to reach them. Just know and recognize He loves them too much to leave them in their current condition.

Let’s recognize that when we reject God’s initial help, it sets us back, and I don’t want to think about how long. I was reminded recently that delayed obedience is still disobedience.  So, let’s be open to receiving from whoever God wants to use to get us the answers we need.

Have a day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
