connecting with God and you!

Don’t Rush It

Good Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“Don’t Rush It”

Genesis 15:2-4 New King James Version (NKJV)

2 But Abram said, “Lord God, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one [a servant] born in my house is my heir!”

4 And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.”

Genesis 16:1-4 New King James Version (NKJV)

16 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. And she had an Egyptian maidservant whose name was Hagar. 2 So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai. 3 Then Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan. 4 So he went in to Hagar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress became despised in her eyes.

Genesis 17:1-4 New King James Version (NKJV)

17 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless [obedient]. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations.

Further Thought:  What I want you to see in today’s nugget is that Sarai, whose name was later changed to Sarah, wanted a child, but God wanted a nation.  Sarai and Abram may not have known at the time, but they needed to use their faith to stand on what God had said in Genesis 15:4 above.  Understand that not every woman or man is the right person for you.  Unfortunately, some women and men will not submit themselves to the call of God, which disqualifies them from birthing what God desires to birth through you.  Single ladies and gentlemen, know without a doubt that God has the right partner for you.  Now allow God to confirm to you that exact person.  You see, He knows the one He has for you, who won’t leave when you experience a little pressure, they won’t cheat, and the two of you will be able to fulfill all He has predestined.  In the life story of Abraham and Sarah, they went through what I call unnecessary roughness.  They experienced things that they shouldn’t have because they thought they needed to help God do the impossible.  Let’s recognize that Sarai was around 76 when God first spoke to Abram in Genesis 15, so we can’t fault her for thinking that the only way they could have children was for God to use another younger woman. So, today, whether you are single or married, let’s not rush what God desires to do in and through us.  Hebrews 6:12 reminds us that it’s through faith and patience that we inherit all that God has for us.

Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
