Good Morning. Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:
“It’s Now My Responsibility”
Hosea 4:6 Living Bible (TLB)
6 My people are destroyed because they don’t know me, and it is all your fault, you priests, for you yourselves refuse to know me; therefore, I refuse to recognize you as my priests. Since you have forgotten my laws, I will ‘forget’ to bless your children.
——–
Further Thought: Let’s recognize that today’s passage was under the “Old Covenant,” and the Holy Spirit had not been given to God’s children. Neither did they have their own Bibles in multiple translations or other resources as we have today. So, the people had to rely on the priest to teach them about God. When we accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, God deposited His Holy Spirit in us. According to John 16:13-15, the Holy Spirit’s assignment is to guide us in all God has said and is saying today. So, it’s no longer just the priest’s [pastor’s] responsibility to know God and to teach God’s people, but it’s also our responsibility to know God for ourselves. I want to encourage you to take a few minutes of the 1,440 God has given you today to get to know him even more.
Now let’s make the following confession of responsibility: It’s my responsibility to know God. I understand that it’s impossible for me to experience all God has for me apart from an intimate relationship with him. I commit to using every available resource to know the only true and living God.
Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
