Good Morning. Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:
“The Importance of Knowing God’s Will”
Matthew 6:9-10 New King James Version (NKJV)
9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.
1 John 5:14-15 King James Version (KJV)
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him [God], that, if we ask any thing according to his will [which is His word], he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Mark 11:24 King James Version (KJV)
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye [you] desire, when [you] pray, believe that [you] receive them, and [you] shall have them.

Further Thought: This morning, let’s discuss the importance of knowing God’s will. In today’s first passage above, Jesus gives his disciples the pattern for prayer, and part of that pattern is knowing God’s will before they pray. Verse 10 says we are to pray “God’s will” that’s done in heaven be done on earth [in your and my life]. Contrary to what others may say, we were never meant to repeat the words of the model prayer [Matthew 6:5-13]. If that were the case, there would be no need for faith or the Bible because all the responsibility would be on God. We have a responsibility, and that is to know from God’s word what he has said, which is His will. Our second passage above tells us that when we know what God has said [which is His will], we can confidently pray what He has said in His word, knowing He hears us and will answer our request. Our third passage reminds us of the importance of being fully persuaded/convinced of what God has said before we can ask. Mark 11:24 tells us we have to believe we receive [take] it before we see it manifest in our lives. So when we position ourselves to hear what God has said [His will], our faith will begin to grow, so we come to the point where we know the will of God, and as a result, we can pray that God’s will that’s done in heaven will be manifested in our lives. My prayer for you today is that this nugget will serve as a reminder of the importance of knowing God’s will. Remember, Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, seek first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness [His way of doing and being right], and everything else we are seeking will be added.
Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
