Time With the Father

Good Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“Time With the Father”

Matthew 6:5-13 New King James Version (NKJV)

5 “And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

7 And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.  8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. 9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.  11 Give us this day our daily bread.  12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.

13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Further Thought: Today’s passage provides us with the example of how our daily prayer time with our heavenly Father should be. Remember our heavenly Father never meant for us to repeat the same words every time we meet with him; see verse 7.  So, here is the sequence:

#1 It’s 1v1 time between you and your heavenly Father; see verse 5.

# 2. The location is a place where you won’t be disturbed; see verse 6.

# 3. Prayer is not about you doing all the talking. Remember, according to verse 8, your heavenly Father already knows. So, you can skip the details. And allow him maximum time to speak.

# 4 The protocol calls for you to begin with worship; see verse 9. [Father, good morning it’s [your name]. Thank you for life, healing and health. This is the day that you have made, and I’ve decided to rejoice and be glad in it.  I’m going to let my light so shine today that men may see my good works and glorify you…]

# 5. It’s about what your heavenly Father wants; see verse 10.

# 6. It’s about what’s concerning you; see verse 11.

# 7. Confirm that whatever it is you are asking, you are willing to do the same; see verse 12.

# 8. Acknowledge your desire for Him to guide and protect you today; see verse 13.

# 9. Seal the prayer with confidence in knowing that God heard you and that you have your requests, according to 1 John 5:14-15. [Thank you, Father, according to 1 John 5:14-15, that I can have confidence when I pray according to your will in knowing not only that you’ve heard me but I also have what I’ve asked]

Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
