Don’t Be Critical

Good Friday Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“Don’t Be Critical”

Matthew 7:1-6 New Living Translation (NLT)

1 “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. 2 For you will be treated as you treat others.  The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.

3 “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? 4 How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.

6 “Don’t waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don’t throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you.

Further Thought: Before casting judgment, our first question should be: what am I doing that may disqualify me from helping my brother or sister?  Instead of our first response being critical, it should serve as a reminder for us to look at our own lives.  We must remember, at all costs, that we are commanded to walk in love.  And when we are encouraged to provide feedback to our fellow man, we must ensure it’s given in a manner that can be receive it.

Also, understand that not everyone wants your help, and you have know and recognized this.  Then, according to verse six above, it’s a waste of your time when you are attempting to help them.  Now, when they refuse to listen, don’t wash your hands of them, but instead pray and give thanks for them as we are commanded in 1 Timothy 2:1-4. Remember, according to 1 Corinthians 3:6, one plants, another waters, but it’s God who does the changing with both yours and their cooperation.

Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
