Who God Used

Good Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“Who God Used”

1 Corinthians 1:27 New King James Version (NKJV)

27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

Further Thought: As humans operating in the flesh, we tend to write off people based on their conduct.  But did you know:  Moses and David are the primary biblical authors who committed murder, while the Apostle Paul was complicit in the execution of Christians.

Moses

  • Books Written: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy (the first five books of the Bible).
  • The Event: Moses saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew slave. He looked around, saw no one, killed the Egyptian, and hid his body in the sand.
  • Scripture Reference: Exodus 2:11–12

David

  • Books Written: A large portion of the Book of Psalms.
  • The Event: David committed adultery with Bathsheba. To cover it up, he arranged for her husband, Uriah the Hittite, to be placed at the front lines of a fierce battle so he would be killed by the enemy.
  • Scripture Reference: 2 Samuel 11:14–17

Paul (Saul)

  • Books Written: Thirteen letters (epistles) in the New Testament, from Romans to Philemon.
  • The Event: Before his conversion, Paul guarded the coats of the men who stoned Stephen to death. He also held a vote to put other Christians to death and persecuted the early church violently.
  • Scripture Reference: Acts 7:58–8:1 and Acts 26:10

So, if God didn’t write off Moses, David, or Saul but used them to change the lives of countless people, even after what each of them did intentionally, then neither should we write off our fellow man.  Let’s remember that God has an assignment for all men [male & female], and it’s God’s will that “all” men be saved and come into the knowledge of the truth.

Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
