Good Morning. Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:
“Launch Out”
Luke 5:1-7 New King James Version (NKJV)
1 So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, 2 and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. 3 Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.
4 When He [Jesus] had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”
6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. 7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.

Further Thought: Today’s passage reminds us that God knows how to meet our needs even when we don’t see a way. In today’s passage, Simon allowed Jesus to use his boat to speak with the people, so they could hear the word of God. Keep in mind that Jesus said in Mark 10:28-30, Living Bible (TLB), that whatever we give to show our love for Him and to ensure others hear the Good News of the Kingdom of God, He guarantees us a 100x return in this lifetime. So, when Simon obeyed what he was trying to make happen all night, Jesus provided even more in just a fraction of the time. Now, look back at verses four and five above. Jesus instructed Simon to let down his nets. However, Simon responded, “I will let down the net.” This tells me that Jesus wanted to do even more, but He could only work with the faith Simon used.
So, let me encourage you to stop trying to make things happen on your own. Recognize that your obedience authorizes God to add His supernatural power to your natural ability. Now launch out and do what God has told you to do, even if it doesn’t make sense, as Simon did in today’s passage. When you obey, the blessing will follow.
Have a great day and keep chewing on God’s Word.
