Good Morning. Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:
“Train Up A Child”
Proverbs 22:6-7 Amplified Bible (AMP) & The Message (MSG)
Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], Even when he is old he will not depart from it. The poor are always ruled over by the rich, so don’t borrow and put yourself under their power.

Further Thought: Did you notice today’s scripture didn’t tell the school system or our teachers to train up our children? No, the responsibility to train our children to seek after God and all he has made available is ours. Also, did you notice in today’s passage that part of this train up process was teaching our children to stay out of debt? I’m convinced that God never meant for our school systems to guide our children to what he has called them to see, do, and accomplish. Yes, He can use our teachers and mentors to encourage us, but God has told us in his word, in Jeremiah 29:11-13, New International Version (NIV), the plans he has for us and how we discover those. He also told us in Psalm 32:8 Amplified Bible (AMP), that He will instruct us and teach us in the way we should go, those who are willing to learn. In both the Old and New Testaments, He said he would never leave us or forsake us. So, our assignment is not just to encourage our children and grandchildren to excel academically but also to excel at seeking to please God in all they do. As we close out this school year, I want to encourage you to set aside time daily [Mon-Fri] with your children to read God’s word and then take the same amount of time to discuss/meditate upon what they have read. Now don’t say you don’t have time. God has given us each 1,440 minutes and we get to choose how we will use them. Now, get creative and identify the best time for this when they are focused. For younger children, less is best when starting. Focus on a passage, example, Luke 6:31 (treat others how you want to be treated), Philippians 4:13 (I can do all that is required today) or Nehemiah 8:10 (the joy of the Lord is my strength).
Think about it; there are certain things you still remember hearing from your parents and those you grew up with. Why? Because they were ingrained in your thinking. Today’s passage reminds us to train up our children to trust God in all they do, and even when they leave home, they won’t go away from the principles they were taught [what they continually heard]. Why? Because you ingrained them in their thinking. So, when they face life’s challenges, you can rest with confidence knowing that their teacher, the Holy Spirit, will continue to guide them along the best paths of life by reminding them of the word of God you stored up in them.
Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
