The Love Reminder

Good Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“The Love Reminder”

Matthew 22:37-39 New King James Version (NKJV)

37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

Further Thought:  In the above passage, we find Jesus quoting from the Old Testament, Deuteronomy 6:5 & Leviticus 19:18.  These two commands are pegs; everything in God’s Word hangs from them.”  Now, under the new covenant, we are to love each other just as much as Jesus loved us (John 13:34).  So the love we demonstrate for one another will be the proof that we love God.

1 John 4:20 [The Message Translation] says, “If anyone boasts, I love God,” and goes right on hating his brother or sister, thinking nothing of it, he is a liar.  If he won’t love the person he can see, how can he love the God he can’t see?  The command we have from Christ is blunt: Loving God includes loving people.  You’ve got to love both”.

Galatians 5:6b reminds us that “faith works by love.”  The two work together.  So when we choose to operate outside the love of God, we forfeit our benefits.  Now that our elections are final, I want to encourage each of us to check our love walk as we welcome our new leaders and our commitment to praying for them according to 1 Timothy 2:1-4.  So, despite how you feel, remember you are God’s Ambassador and you have God’s love in you.  Now, you must draw upon this love daily as you seek to honor God in all you do.  John 10:10 reminds us, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.  I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”  Let’s not allow anyone or anything to keep us from the abundant life Jesus has made available today and every day.

Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
