Acceleration

Good Monday Morning.  Here’s Today’s Nugget to chew on:

“Acceleration”

John 2:1-11 New King James Version (NKJV)

1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”

4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”  6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece.

7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. 9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom.

10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good (best) wine until now!”

11 This beginning of signs (miracles) Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

Further Thought: Today’s passage reminds us that the first miracle Jesus performed was a miracle of “Acceleration” when He turned water into wine.  Verse 10 above tells us that it was the best wine.  Experts say it typically takes 1 to 3 years from harvest to commercial release to make the best wines.  However, many fine wines do not reach their absolute peak until they have aged in the bottle for an additional 5 to 20 years.  Think about that for a moment.

Matthew 7:11 reminds us, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” So, if God was concerned with the groom in today’s passage being embarrassed for running out of wine, how much more is He concerned about you being whole “spirit, soul, and body” as His representative on the earth.  I want to challenge you to use your faith and ask your Father in heaven to “Accelerate” some things in your life. You know what they are. Remember, Jesus said in Luke 17:6, if you had just a little faith, you would demonstrate it by saying. Yes, your acceleration must start with you speaking it.

Now, if you are still not convinced that your Father in heaven is the God of Acceleration and that He will also do it on your behalf, here are a few additional passages that demonstrate His willingness.  Before we go further, let’s remember that our God doesn’t change (Malachi 3:6) and that He won’t do for some what He’s done for others (Acts 10:34). In Genesis 41:14-44, after years of imprisonment, Joseph experienced acceleration when he was summoned by Pharaoh. In a single day, he went from being a prisoner to being the second-most powerful leader in Egypt.  We have in Joel 2:25 where God promises to restore our years of lost time, fast-tracking us to where we would have been if the delay had never happened. And in 1 Kings 18:46 describes when God’s power came upon Elijah, and he was able to outrun King Ahab’s chariot for roughly 16-20 miles from Mount Carmel to Jezreel. Finally, we will all require God to accelerate some things in our lives to fulfill all He’s called us to see, do, and accomplish.

Have a great day, and keep chewing on God’s Word.
